Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli could sign a new contract with Tottenham “in the coming days”, according to a report.
Football London claims that the attacking midfielder is close to penning a fresh long-term deal with Spurs and he will become the latest key first teamer to commit his future to the North London club.
It is understood the new contact may be announced imminently and the England international could be bumped up to £100,000-a-week deal.
The report details Mauricio Pochettino’s side are looking to secure the 22-year-old’s future to beat off any potential competition from abroad.
Football Insider verdict:
There had been talk that Alli was being lined up for a new contract after teammate Harry Kane and manager Pochettino committed their futures and the latest report suggests it could even be announced this week. The England international is an absolutely pivotal player moving forward for Pochettino’s side and has already proven himself to be one of the best young players in the Premier League in recent years since he arrived from MK Dons. He was criticised at times last season for his overall performances, but even in an under par season he scored 14 goals and supplied 17 assists across all competitions. Alli will continue to go from strength to strength in the coming years and Spurs is definitely the right home for him to do that. He is one of the poster boys ahead of the club’s switch to a new ground, where they will hope to end their 10-year trophy drought ASAP.
In other Tottenham transfer news, they have joined the hunt to sign a £18million-rated playmaker.
