Tottenham news: Antonio Conte tipped to sanction Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg exit after transfer update - pundit
Noel Whelan has tipped Antonio Conte to sanction a deal for Tottenham to sell Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg this summer.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the Italian manager is not “completely sold” on the 26-year-old since taking charge.
As reported by the Express (26 April), Newcastle United are preparing a £30million offer for the Danish midfielder.
Conte is reportedly plotting an overhaul of his squad and Hojbjerg is among those who may be let go.
Whelan suggested Conte would be happy to move the midfielder on and insisted £30million would not be “over the top”.
Asked if a £30million move would be good business for both Spurs and Newcastle, Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “I think it would be.

“Right now he’s doing fantastically well for Tottenham but I still don’t think Conte’s completely sold by Hojbjerg. Right now, I think he’s needing him in that midfield to be solid.
“But I think come the summertime, I think if a reasonable offer comes in for Hojbjerg, if Conte’s still there, he wouldn’t hold back in selling him.
“Everyone’s got their value to a team. You’re not going out spending £80million, £60million, £50million even.
“You’re getting a very good international player that has shown that they can do it for over five years now in the Premier League.
“They’re (Newcastle) not just going to go out there and grab players. They have got to complement the team, they’ve got to complement the players they play next to.
“I don’t think £30million is over the top for a player like that. For five years, or four years, whatever contract he may sign, it would prove dividend for them.”
