Tottenham news: Pundit issues 'perfect replacement' verdict after Harry Kane transfer news

Tottenham striker Harry Kane would be “the perfect replacement” for Robert Lewandowski at Bayern Munich, according to Kevin Campbell.

The former Arsenal and Everton forward, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, said the 28-year-old is “tailor-made” for the Bundesliga champions.

Bayern Munich are in the market for a centre-forward after losing Lewandowski to Barcelona.

As shown on Sky Sports (23 July), Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann opened the door on a move for Kane during a pre-season press conference.

According to Bild’s Christian Falk (26 July), Chelsea would also be interested in signing the England captain next summer.

When asked by Football Insider for his assessment of Kane’s future heading into the new season, Campbell said: “Listen, he got his head down last season after a difficult start.

“It was a bit ropey at the start but he helped fire the club back into the Champions League.

“Kane is the England captain. He is going to hit the ground running in a World Cup year. He will score goals no matter what. There will be no messing about.

“Goalscorers change teams. When you look at Bayern Munich, they have lost 45 goals a season in Lewandowski. They have to replace him.

“They could not get [Erling] Haaland, he went to City. Who else could they get in? The next best is Harry Kane.

“He is tailor-made for Bayern Munich. Kane can finish. Lewandowski is world-class. Kane would be the perfect replacement.”
