Tottenham have opened talks with Napoli over signing Amadou Diawara ahead of the summer window, according to a reliable journalist.
Gazzetta dello Sport correspondent Nicolo Schira reported on his personal Twitter account that Spurs are “really interested” in landing the central midfielder for next season.
Schira explained that the London club are in “ongoing contact” with the Serie A side over a deal for Diawara.

Football Insider verdict:
This would be a decent move for Spurs, although there must be some doubt as to whether Diawara can immediately slot into Mauricio Pochettino’s established top-four side. Diawara has shown glimpses of brilliance for Napoli as a combative defensive shield who can stop opposition attacks and launch ones for his own team. He has a wide passing range and has impressive positioning sense for a player who does not turn 22 until July. It is a measure of the Guinea international’s pedigree that he has already accumulated 83 Serie A appearances for Napoli and former side Bologna. Nevertheless, Diawara has been in and out of Carlo Ancelotti’s team this season and has recently had a prolonged spell on the bench? Sure, there is plenty of competition to get into Serie A’s second-placed outfit, but the Premier League is a slight step up, and the midfielder looks one for the future rather than the here and now.
