Tottenham player ratings during win v Manchester United: 25-year-old is 8/10

By Matt Farr

Football Insider rates the Tottenham players during their 2-1 win over Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday.

Hugo Lloris 6 – Manchester United offered little in the final third, and Lloris therefore had an easy afternoon. Beaten by Rooney, but could do little.

Kieran Trippier 7 – Recalled in place of Walker, and gave a pleasing display. Had few tests defensively, but linked up well with Eriksen in the final third and on the overlap.

Jan Vertonghen 6 – Untested for the majority, but pipped to the ball for Rooney goal. Few other testing moments to judge.

Toby Alderweireld 6 – Untroubled by United’s crossing. A comfortable afternoon in the air.

Ben Davies 7 – Superb delivery for opening goal, and excellent work-rate. Proved more than up to the test in Rose absence.

Eric Dier 6 – Entrusted with another start in his preferred midfield role ahead of Dembele. A few misplaced passes, but made up for it with several important challenges.

Victor Wanyama 7 – Secured an early lead with a bullet header. Ran the distance for his team, showing terrific energy and stamina.

Son Heung-Min 6 – Burst through on goal in the first-half, but fired a shot straight at De Gea. Should have done better, but the energy and intent was there.

Christian Eriksen 8 – Exceptional delivery as per usual. He strikes fear into defences with the ball at his feet from dead-ball situations, and the 25-year-old proved that with another assist from a set-piece.

Dele Alli 6 – Always hungry to get involved. Eriksen was the chief creator, and Kane the finisher, but Alli enforced his own typically buzzing influence.

Harry Kane 7 – Instinctive and incisive. Artfully volleyed home to extend Spurs’ lead minutes after the restart. Has been a constant nuisance to PL defences this term, and Manchester United failed to buck the trend.

Mousa Dembele 6 (for Son 72)

Kyle Walker 6 (for Trippier 82)

Georges-Kevin N’Koudou 6 (for Eriksen 90)
