Crystal Palace are ahead of Tottenham in the hunt for Franco Vazquez, according to a report.

The 27-year-old Palermo forward has caught the attention of several Premier League clubs this summer, while there is also competition from Napoli.

Vazquez picked up the accolade for Serie A top assist provider during the 2014-15 season to enhance his reputation across Europe.

Football Insider reported on Tuesday that West Brom had registered their interest and were a serious rival for Spurs, but it now appears Crystal Palace are front runners.

Sky Sports Italia claim that Palace have already made a £10million bid, that has been rejected, while Tottenham are yet to register a bid for the playmaker.

The attacking midfielder impressed in Serie A last season, with eight goals and six assists in his 36 appearances.

The player has been with current club Palermo since 2012 and in that time has racked up over 100 appearances. He was rewarded by newly appointed Chelsea boss Antonio Conte for his performances in Serie A, when he was called up to the Italian national side in 2015.

Prior to his Italian domestic career, he started out in the top tier of Argentinian football with Belgrano making just shy of 100 appearances for them.
