Tottenham returning with new Thierry Small bid - sources
Tottenham are set to return with a new bid for Southampton star Thierry Small, sources have told Football Insider.
The left-back, 18, was the subject of an £800,000 January offer from Spurs that was rejected by the Saints.
Southampton wanted £1.2million for Small at the time and he ended up joining St Mirren on loan for the rest of the season, in a deal first revealed by Football Insider in January.
Now, Tottenham have let Small and his representatives know they are planning on returning with a new offer for him this summer.
They face competition for the rising star’s signature from Rangers, who have been in contact with Southampton to ask to be kept informed about developments, while St Mirren are also keen on another loan deal.
The teenager has been a regular for Stephen Robinson’s team, operating mainly at left-back or on the left side of midfield.

Small had firstly joined League One outfit Port Vale last summer on a season-long loan but that deal was terminated in November, as first revealed by Football Insider, when Southampton activated their recall clause.
The £5million signing from Everton struggled for game time at the third-tier club, who already had two left-backs, his preferred position, when he signed.
The England under-19 international was born in Solihull and was a youth player at West Brom before moving to Everton and becoming a regular for their Under-23s.
He became Everton’s youngest ever first team player, in January 2021, when he appeared in an FA Cup win against Sheffield Wednesday aged just 16 years and 176 days.
He joined Southampton on a three-year deal in August 2021.
