Sources: Tottenham agree Yves Bissouma deal and close to another £20m signing after late-night talks
Tottenham have agreed to sign Yves Bissouma from Brighton for £25million and are confident of wrapping up a deal for Middlesbrough sensation Djed Spence in the coming days, Football Insider understands.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Spurs are also putting the finishing touches to luring Bissouma from Brighton, with a medical pencilled in for this week.
They have reached agreement on a deal worth around £25m after being quoted £40m by Brighton when they enquired last summer.
Spurs held further talks about a deal for Spence on Tuesday night and are confident of securing a breakthrough in talks with his club Middlesbrough.
The Championship club are ready to cash in on the defender, who joined from the Fulham youth set-up in the summer of 2018, as he looks to take the next step in his career.
Spurs are looking to secure an early-window agreement and fend off competition from rivals including Arsenal, Brentford and Nottingham Forest, his 2021-22 loan club.
Antonio Conte’s team have emerged as one of the Premier League’s busiest clubs this month after securing a top-four Premier League finish.
They have already signed goalkeeper Fraser Forster and Ivan Perisic, who has joined predominantly as a left wing-back.
Bissouma will slot into a central midfield role, while Spence will be used on the opposite flank to Perisic in Conte’s favoured 3-5-2 system if a deal is finalised.
He has a contract at the Riverside Stadium that runs until 2024.
Spence has enhanced his reputation over the last year while playing an instrumental role in Forest’s promotion bid.
He made 40 league starts among 50 appearances in all competitions, and started all their play-off wins.
