Tottenham striker Harry Kane has been identified as one of four possible candidates to replace Barcelona striker Luis Suarez, according to a report.
Spanish publication Don Balon claim on their website that the Catalan giants are growing frustrated with the Uruguayan’s displays this season and worry that at 31-years-old he will not be able to return to his best form.
As such it is said that they have lined up four potential replacements for the Liverpool icon, who netted 82 goals for the Reds, with a pair of Premier League strikers eyed for a possible move.
Kane, who has been the top scorer in England’s top flight for two successive seasons, is joined by Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus, Inter Milan’s Mauro Icardi and Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann as potential successors for the man who cost the Blaugrana £65million back in 2014.
He has netted five goals in 17 appearances across all competitions, while he has a total of 126 strikes to his name from 164 outings.
Football Insider verdict
Every major club in the world will have Harry Kane on their shortlist of potential strikers after his form in recent years, and his departure from Spurs will come down to two things; whether any club can stump up the funds required to convince Daniel Levy to sell and if a side could actually prise Kane away from his beloved Tottenham. He does not seem to fit the same mould as Suarez and it could be that Barca are looking to reinvent themselves following the departure of Neymar over the summer, with an out-and-out number nine evidently missing. Kane has proven he has what it takes to exceed at that role, but he would not be willing to be pushed out on the wing to accommodate other players, as Suarez has found at times.
In other Tottenham news, fans were calling this star “Stoke City level” after his display against Leicester.
