Tottenham have seen a £31million (€35million) bid for Bordeaux winger Malcolm rejected by the French side, according to a report.
Brazilian news outlet UOL claim on their sports website that Spurs tried to beat Premier League rivals Manchester United and Arsenal to the 20-year-old’s signing by placing an early bid, but saw it rebuffed by Bordeaux, who are unwilling to let their young star depart next month.
The versatile wide man, who can play on either flank or in a central role, has been in impressive form this season, with seven goals and five assists in his 20 appearances across all competitions.
He arrived in France from Brazilian side Corinthians back in January 2016, and has a total 78 appearances under his belt for Bordeaux, netting 18 goals and chipping in with 13 assists.
Football Insider verdict
Tottenham were obviously convinced that they would be able to secure an early swoop for the young forward with what would seem to most a mega money bid, but Bordeaux seem to have dug their feet in over his departure. News of Spurs’ bid may well attract more and more interest, not least from their top flight rivals, and it could be a case of a bidding war for his services. The French side can try and keep a hold of their star man, but unless you are a giant of world football, everyone has their price, and it is just a matter of time before one of the big boys makes an offer they cannot refuse. Will that be Spurs? That awaits to be seen.
