Sir Jim Ratcliffe would likely assess Tottenham for a potential takeover should they be up for sale.

That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the latest news from behind the scenes at Spurs.

As relayed by the Daily Mail on 23 December, Ratcliffe was a guest at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the recent 1-1 friendly match with Ligue 1 side Nice.

Ratcliffe, the UK's richest man, owns INEOS, a chemicals company that recently signed an automotive sponsorship deal with Spurs.

Some supporters have speculated that the 70-year-old, who has previously been linked with a takeover of Man United, could be interested in investing in Spurs.

The Athletic reported in February last year that, although there is no urgency to find a buyer, Daniel Levy and Joe Lewis have spoken to prospective bidders about the possibility of one day selling the club.

Maguire claims that Ratcliffe would at least consider the possibility of buying into the North Londoners if the opportunity ever arose.

"Sir Jim Ratcliffe is very astute," he told Football Insider's Adam Williams.

"He is good at assessing value. If a Big Six club such as Spurs comes on the market, he would always want to assess the opportunities there.

"I'm sure he is very impressed by what he has seen at Spurs in terms of the multi-function stadium the club has.

"Spurs also have the ability to separate fans from their cash with the pricing structure they have for tickets.

"There are lots of opportunities to grow the club commercially. The one issue under Daniel Levy is the lack of trophies."
