Medical Booked: Tottenham close in on three marquee signings - Sources

Tottenham are closing in on three marquee signings before the window shuts as Destiny Udogie finalises a £20million buy-to-loan move from Udinese on Monday, sources have told Football Insider.

The left-back, 19, will undergo a medical in London on Monday after initial tests in his native Italy, where he will remain for the rest of the season on loan back at Udinese.

Spurs have agreed to pay an initial £15m for Udogie rising to £20m including add-ons.

Tottenham are also set to complete the permanent capture of Cristian Romero in the coming days.

The popular centre-back has been on loan from Atalanta and Spurs have until the end of this month to convert that into a permanent transfer at the set price of £40m.

The Londoners are also working on a third marquee signing before the window shuts, although they must first offload unwanted quartet Giovani Lo Celso, Tanguy Ndombele, Harry Winks and Sergio Reguilon.

Udogie will become the club’s seventh summer signing after the arrivals of Ivan Perisic, Yves Bissouma, Richarlison, Djed Spence, Clement Lenglet and Fraser Forster.

Tottenham already have strong competition at left wing-back and are happy for Udogie to continue his development at Udinese.

Ryan Sessegnon started the 4-1 win over Southampton on Saturday (6 August) as well as Sunday’s (14 August) 2-2 thriller against Chelsea.

Udogie played 35 times in Serie A in 2021-22 for Udinese on loan from Hellas Verona before an obligatory purchase option was triggered earlier this summer.

His form for Udinese earned him a call up to the Italy Under-21s and he now has four caps to his name.

Tottenham have favoured the Italian market since Fabio Paratici took over as managing director of football last June (2021).

Pierluigi Gollini, Rodrigo Bentancur, Dejan Kulusevski, Romero and Perisic have all signed from Serie A clubs since last summer.
