Tottenham tipped for historic collapse after Harry Kane 'number one priority' revealed - Agbonlahor

Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed Tottenham could finish in the bottom half of the Premier League for the first time in more than 15 years if Harry Kane leaves the club this summer.

The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested £60million “flop” Richarlison “can’t hit a barn door” and is incapable of replacing the 29-year-old.

Kane will have just 12 months left on his Tottenham contract next month and has been widely linked with Premier League giants Man United and Bundesliga serial winners Bayern Munich.

Football Insider revealed earlier this month (9 May) that the England captain is the “number one priority and top target” for the Red Devils in the summer window.

He has notched 30 goals and five assists in 48 appearances across all competitions this term.

Tottenham last recorded a bottom-half Premier League finish under Juande Ramos in the 2007-08 season.

Agbonlahor claimed keeping Kane could help Spurs return to the Champions League in the 2024-25 campaign.

He told Football Insider’s Charlotte Cohen: “Spurs without Harry Kane could be 10th or 11th next season.

“They might think they can’t afford to turn down £70-80million and lose him on a free transfer next year.

“However, could he be the difference in getting top four next season and making the club money?

“Honestly, it’s a 50:50 decision for Levy and Joe Lewis.

“You can’t let him go for free, but there’s Richarlison behind him who can’t hit a barn door.

“Who can you get in to replace him?

“If you go and spend £60million again – it could be another flop like Richarlison.

“Because Spurs are so over-reliant on Kane, they’re going to really feel the consequences when he goes.”
