Tottenham tipped to axe Winks and start 23-year-old after Thursday night development - Phillips
Kevin Phillips has tipped Tottenham manager Nuno Espirito Santo to drop Harry Winks for the trip to Chelsea on Sunday.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Sunderland and England striker revealed he expects Steven Bergwijn to replace the 25-year-old with Dele Alli dropping back into midfield.
Bergwijn, 23, missed last Saturday’s shock 3-0 loss at Crystal Palace through injury with Winks coming into the starting XI for the first time in the league this season.
The Netherlands international returned to action in Thursday night’s Europa Conference League tie against Rennes but was forced off after 29 minutes through injury.
The winger has impressed in the early part of the season and has one assist to his name in three starts.
Phillips expects Bergwijn to start on Sunday if he overcomes the injury suffered on Thursday night.

“I think Bergwijn will come in for Winks against Chelsea,” he told Football Insider.
“Offensively, if Harry is not scoring goals and Son is out injured they need players in the side who can score goals and Bergwijn is one of them.
“He will come back into the XI and Alli will probably drop back into the midfield.
“Nuno has to do something because it was a very disappointing result at Palace, even though they had a man sent off. It was a result that very few saw coming.
“They got off to an amazing start but can they now bounce back? That is the big test.
“Bergwijn coming in will help. He brings a pace and a directness which will help them create opportunities.”
