Tottenham could use Son Heung-min's contract extension to seal a big-money transfer for Crystal Palace's Eberechi Eze.

Spurs triggered the one-year extension in the South Korean's deal to see him remain in North London until the summer of 2026, having notched 11 goals and 11 assists in 46 games this season.

While some Tottenham fans have been highly critical of Son throughout the difficult campaign, which saw Ange Postecoglou's side finish 17th in the Premier League, he is still the club's captain.

Thanks to another impressive record in 2024/25, adding to his total of 173 goals and 101 assists since joining in 2015, The Telegraph reported (3 May) that he is the subject of transfer interest from Saudi Arabia.

Spurs are in their final summer of being able to receive a fee from Son's exit, and with the 32-year-old entering the twilight of his career, it makes sense for the club to cash in now.

Eberechi Eze deal on the cards after Son Heung-min exit

With Saudi Pro League sides involved in the transfer news, there could be some very decent offers coming the way of the Lilywhites this summer, and it makes total sense to accept.

Football Insider understands that Tottenham are planning to open talks with Eze's agent over a potential move across London following an incredible campaign, with a £68million release clause currently in the player's contract.

The 26-year-old scored the only goal as the Eagles pipped Pep Guardiola and his Man City side to the FA Cup trophy at Wembley Stadium, finally bringing major silverware to South London.

It was the playmaker's 14th goal of the 2024/25 campaign, with the star boasting another 12 assists in his 43 total appearances, and it is quite easy to understand the hype around the player this summer.

Daniel Levy has very often been slammed for his lack of investment on the pitch, but if he can bring Eze to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium over the coming weeks, it will silence a lot of doubters.

Ange Postecoglou's replacement will require new talents at Tottenham

It is completely unknown who will be in charge once the 2025/26 campaign kicks off, with Football Insider breaking the news that Tottenham will sack Ange Postecoglou ahead of next season.

Either way, the extensive list of injuries highlighted a massive problem throughout the campaign, which played a huge role in Spurs' struggles.

Adding Eze to the forward line would be an incredible signing, and certainly a statement to the rest of the league that the Lilywhites mean business after lifting the Europa League title and ending a 17-year trophy drought.

The England international is quickly outgrowing Palace's expectations, becoming a key figure like Wilfried Zaha during his time at the club, but it seems that this summer could be his time for a bigger challenge.

While Levy is rarely one to spend big on transfers, this is not one that Spurs want to miss out on, and receiving a big fee for Son while it is available could help sweeten the deal to trigger Eze's release clause.
