Alan Hutton has told Tottenham to sign a goalkeeper, centre-back and midfielder in the January transfer window.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs right-back said the midfield is "crying out" for creativity.

The Lilywhites' boss wants up to three major signings in the winter window, including a forward, versatile defender and midfield player.

The club are keen to repeat the successes of last season's January window which saw the arrival of Dejan Kulusevski on loan and Rodrigo Bentancur.

Hutton suggested there are other positions that Spurs should be looking to bring in reinforcements.

"I think at this moment in time, moving forward another goalkeeper has to come in," he told Football Insider.

"Someone who can challenge [Hugo] Lloris long-term. I know [Fraser] Forster is there at this moment in time but is he going to be number one, I am not so sure.

"A left-sided centre-half, [Clement] Lenglet has obviously come in on loan I think that is a short term fix.

"Creativity in midfield is massive for me. That is the bit that is crying out for me so they don’t heavily rely on the likes of Son [Heung-min] and [Harry] Kane. I think somebody who can unlock defences is really key for them at this moment in time."
