Paul Robinson has urged Tottenham to sign Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar this summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former White Hart Lane number one believes the 27-year-old would provide "real" competition for the "magnificent" Eric Dier next season.

Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici are in the market for defensive reinforcements in this window.

Tottenham

According to The Guardian's Barry Glendinning (29 June), Tottenham remain interested in Slovakia international Skriniar.

Spurs failed in an attempt to sign the centre-half in 2021.

When asked by Football Insider if Skriniar was needed in north London given Eric Dier's form last year, Robinsons said: "Dier was magnificent last year but Conte will want competition for places.

"I think we will see another signing in that area.

"Skriniar would be a top signing. Dier was fantastic but when you look at where Spurs want to go, it is a squad game. Skriniar would give the manager real options at the back.

"If you bring in Lenglet and Skriniar to compete with [Cristian] Romero, Dier and Ben Davies you have a very strong back three regardless of who you play."

Tottenham

Skriniar scored four goals in 48 appearances across all competitions last season.

He has just one year remaining on his contract at the San Siro.
