Tottenham transfer news: Kallum Cesay to agree deal after 'out of nowhere' development

Kallum Cesay is set to sign a new long-term contract at Tottenham ahead of a loan move in the summer.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Cesay, 19, received his first Sierra Leone callup ahead of the current round of international games.

He made his debut on Tuesday (29 March) and scored a brace as his side beat Congo 2-1.

Wenham has been blown away by the right-back’s development and he insists the sky is the limit for his development.

“Until last summer (2021), he had really gone under the radar,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“There has always been someone ahead of him in the pecking order.

“Then, last summer, quite randomly, in our first pre-season game against Leyton Orient Nuno started him out of nowhere.

“I had never really known him to play with the first team, he had never even made the bench.

“He started at right-back and since then his prospects and development have gone through the roof.

“He’s been involved in first-team training and he regularly starts for the Under 23s.

“There has been a big growth spurt and he’s now a really promising prospect, he can be as good as he wants to be.

“He’s been rewarded with this Sierra Leone call up and I was hoping he would be given this chance to play after not featuring during their last game.

“I think the plan for him now is a new long-term contract ahead of a loan to a League One side next year.

“I’m always excited by players who come out of nowhere and I’m really keen to follow his development.”
