Tottenham would scrap their cautious summer transfer plan if they get encouragement Raul Jimenez is willing to engineer an exit from Wolves, Football Insider understands.

There is speculation the Mexico international, 29, is keen for one more big career move that would land him a massive pay day.

A Spurs source has told Football Insider that Jose Mourinho is a massive admirer of Jimenez and would love to lure him to London.

The Portugese rates the centre-forward so highly he sees him as a potential partner for Harry Kane rather than just cover for the main man.

Due to his age, Jimenez would not cost that much more than the £30million paid by Wolves last year to convert his loan from Benfica into a permanent deal.

Football Insider understands Spurs are set to concentrate on free transfers, loans and relatively cheap deals in the next window.

But they would be willing to make an exception were a player of Jimenez's quality be available and keen to move to north London.

The likelihood is that he club would cash in on some of their senior players to pave the way for a marquee recruit.

Jimenez certainly fits that bill after two outstanding seasons at Molineux and is regarded as one of the best orthodox spearheads in the Premier League.

He ha scored 22 goals and supplied 10 assists in 44 appearances this season, including 13 goals and six assists in the English top flight.
