Tottenham’s injury list is severe and ‘by far worst in Premier League’ – This is what my analysis shows
Tottenham have not been able to overcome their mounting injury list this season as they look to secure their Premier League status.
That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who believes that Spurs have been “unlucky” with injuries.
Xavi Simons is the latest Spurs player facing a long spell on the sidelines following an ACL injury he picked up against Wolves.
Spurs have been missing James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski throughout the season, whilst captain Cristian Romero will also be missing the final matches of the campaign with a knee injury.
Spurs’ injury list is a blow to manager Roberto De Zerbi as he looks to keep the club in the top flight, with their win at Wolves last time out their first league victory of the calendar year.

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes that injuries have played their part in Spurs’ poor form this season.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness thinks that the north London club have had “real problems” dealing with the amount of injuries that players have been suffering.
| Player | Injury | Potential Return Date |
| Xavi Simons | ACL | 2027 |
| Mohammed Kudus | Thigh | June 2026 |
| Dejan Kulusevski | Knee | June 2026 |
| Cristian Romero | Knee | June 2026 |
| Dominic Solanke | Thigh | May 19th |
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I checked into this. There’s a Premier League injuries website that looks at the injuries for each team.
“There are 18 clubs that have got six or less injuries at the moment or players on the actual injury table. Spurs have got 10. They’re the biggest and the highest by far, and they’ve had this problem all season.
“Thomas Frank had it, and Spurs have been really unlucky with injuries this year and that’s a lot to do with it and that’s got to be said even right from the start with Maddison. That was a blow to them straight away, and they’ve had real problems, and that shouldn’t be forgotten.
“We know it’s all part of the game, other clubs have to do it, but as I say, when you look at the number of injuries on that website, it did strike me clearly that Spurs have had the rough end of this by far.”
Tottenham keen to agree permanent Joao Palhinha deal
Midfielder Joao Palhinha has managed to stay away from any long-term injuries at Spurs during his loan spell from Bayern Munich.
The 30-year-old has appeared 29 times for Spurs this season, and the club want to agree a permanent deal with Bayern Munich this summer.
Sources have told Football Insider that Palhinha is likely to stay at Spurs if they survive Premier League relegation.
Spurs want to negotiate a lower fee with Bayern Munich than the £25million option to buy included in his loan agreement.
