Aston Villa legend Gabby Agbonlahor joined Football Insider's punditry team in November 2020. The Villans’ all-time leading Premier League goalscorer is loving life in the media spotlight and has no problem riling up supporters with his views - watch out Leeds fans! Tottenham hopes of going all the way and winning the title are likely to collapse due to their three senior centre-backs.

That is according to ex-Aston Villa forward Gabby Agbonlahor, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley about why he fears Spurs will ultimately fall short this season.

Tottenham are second in the Premier League going into the international break after Sunday's 1-0 win at West Brom maintained their impressive start to the season.

Agbonlahor has been impressed with what he's seen from Jose Mourinho's side this season but named Toby Alderweireld, Davinson Sanchez and Eric Dier as weak links in their team.

Spurs have conceded nine goals from their eight Premier League matches, the joint-lowest in the division in what has been an extraordinarily high scoring start to the campaign.

"You know what? I can't say Spurs can't win because it's a strange season, it's really strange. You win a game you move up four places you go down four places," Agbonlahor told Football Insider.

"Spurs will be up there in the top four, but I just don't see them winning the league because of their defence, I don’t think their defence is up to scratch, really, and they will concede goals.

"I look at their centre-backs and I just see there’s goals to be leaked there. They haven’t got that big centre-half who is going to get you out of trouble.

"Alderweireld, Sanchez, Dier, they’re okay defenders but I don’t think they're the ones who are going to take Spurs to a title."

Alderweireld and Dier have been paired in central defence in the last three Tottenham league matches, since the 3-3 draw against West Ham last month.

Sanchez was a regular in the team earlier in the season but he appears to have paid the price for his own goal against the Hammers and some indifferent defensive displays.
