Carlo Ancelotti has sought assurances about the Everton futures of Richarlison and Lucas Digne before finalising a deal to become the club's new manager, Football Insider understands.

The Italian is set to sign a four-year contract to take over at Goodison Park after face-to-face talks with majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri in London earlier this week.

An Everton source has told Football Insider that Ancelotti and Moshiri discussed the club's transfer plans and future budget in depth during their discussions.

The Italian, 60, is said to have been keen to learn the owner's positions on the club's star players, especially forward Richarlison and left-back Digne.

Ancelotti was promised he can build his team around the key duo and they would not be sold unless authorised by him.

Richarlison, 22, signed a new five-year contract earlier this month amid confirmed interest from Manchester United, while Digne, 26, has a deal that runs until the summer of 2023.

Three-times Champions League-winning manager Ancelotti regards the pair as Everton's most valuable playing assets, a stance shared by the board.

Moshiri has promised the Italian icon substantial funds to reshape the side that has struggled this season.

Everton were eliminated from the League Cup 4-2 on penalties by Leicester City last night after drawing 2-2 in normal time at Goodison Park.

Digne missed out due to injury, while Richarlison played 84 minutes before being replaced by teenager Anthony Gordon.
