Joe Aribo has agreed the terms of a triple-your-money deal with Rangers as he prepares to become the club's seventh summer signing in the next 48 hours, Football Insider understands.

The goalscoring midfielder has rejected a new Charlton Athletic contract and offers from clubs north and south of the border, as well as in the Bundesliga, to sign for Rangers.

Ibrox sources have told Football Insider that Aribo, 22, has elected to join Rangers after they took advantage of cross-border rules to offer him a long-term contract that will triple his wages.

He is set to undergo a medical in the next 48 hours and join up with the senior squad at their pre-season training camp in Portugal.

Rangers will pay a compensation fee of around £280,000 to Charlton for their academy product after fighting off rival interest, including an eleventh-hour Celtic hijack.

The midfielder played a key role in the London club's promotion-winning campaign last season and has snubbed the chance to play in the English Championship to move north of the border.

He will instantly bring a major goal threat to the Light Blues' midfield, scoring 10 times and supplying five assists from 39 matches for Charlton in 2018-19 as they won promotion via the play-offs.

He is set to become the seventh summer signing of Steven Gerrard, who has been given the green light by the board to act decisively in the early weeks of the window in a bid to narrow the gap on Celtic.

Rangers have already completed the loan signing of Sheyi Ojo and permanent captures of George Edmundson, Jordan Jones, Jake Hastie, Steven Davis and Greg Stewart.
