Arsenal backed to complete 'excellent' Dani Olmo signing - expert

Arsenal have been backed to complete the "excellent" signing of Spain star Dani Olmo after his performances at Euro 2024.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider's Inside Track podcast, former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson insisted the 26-year-old would be an "excellent" signing to add versatility and quality to Mikel Arteta's squad.

Olmo has a £60million release clause in his RB Leipzig contract.

However, senior correspondent Pete O'Rourke warned that Arsenal will need to be quick if they want to land the deal, with the clause set to expire next week.

This comes as multiple clubs across Europe are said to have taken an interest in the Spaniard.

One of those clubs, as Football Insider revealed on 26 June, is Man City, who had made contact with Leipzig about Olmo's availability before his stunning Euros performances.

Olmo currently leads the race to win the Euro 2024 Golden Boot with five goals and two assists from five appearances, helping Spain to reach the final.

The Gunners, meanwhile, have been scouring the transfer market for a new attacking midfielder, with his ability to play out wide adding further fuel to the fire surrounding their interest.

"He looks like a top player, doesn't he?", he told Football Insider.

"He wasn't even going to be first-choice at the Euros for Spain until that tackle early on [against Germany] which caused Pedri the knee injury.

"Olmo has come into the side with his assists and his goals.

"For £60million, you look at the role he could play at Arsenal. He's very versatile, and he's shown his quality so far at the Euros.

"He'd be an excellent signing for Arsenal.

"If you look at what they've got in those areas, he's a player that could compliment their midfield and in attack through the middle."
