Mikel Arteta “doesn’t have any excuses” for this season after the latest Arsenal deals and are the club are now now preparing for a late-window transfer blitz.

Eberechi Eze joined Arsenal from Crystal Palace last week, with the deal worth £67.5million after beating Tottenham to his signature.

Meanwhile, the Gunners have looked to solve their long-term striker problems after Viktor Gyokeres joined from Sporting Lisbon in a £64million deal.

Elsewhere, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard, Cristhian Mosquera and Noni Madueke have also joined Arteta’s side this summer, taking their overall spending beyond £250million.

Arsenal are closing on a deal to sign Piero Hincapie as they look to add the Bayer Leverkusen defender to their ranks.

Arsenal could sell stars after signing spree

This article contains exclusive comment from Stefan Borson, a former financial adviser to Man City.

Arteta has been looking to revamp his side after finishing second in the Premier League table in back-to-back campaigns.

Alongside any further incomings, there are expected to be some fringe players leaving Arsenal before the transfer window closes on 1 September.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson said: “Arsenal do not need to sell.

“They may choose to sell and they may want to sell.

“I think a lot of teams want to sell high-earning players, who are on the fringes of their teams. We know that.

“And that's why I think the last few days of the window will be particularly busy.

“A lot of these teams will end up loaning players out, getting them off the wage bill, if nothing else.

“That will apply to Arsenal as much as it will apply to Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United and the other teams who have got these high earners that are on the fringes of the squad.

“But I don't think they have to sell after buying Eze.

“Clearly, when you add him to the rest of the business they've done, it's an exciting situation for Arsenal fans.

On the other side, I think we're into the realms now where Arteta has very limited excuses for the season, given the way they've spent this summer.”

West Ham in discussions about signing Arsenal star

In terms of a potential exit, recruitment expert Mick Brown told Football Insider West Ham have spoken to Fabio Vieira’s agent about the possibility of a move to east London.

However, while he remains a name on the Hammers’ list and could become an option should they miss out on other targets, it is unlikely they will make a move at this stage.

Bundesliga side Stuttgart are believed to be working on a deal to sign the attacking midfielder as Arteta plans to move him on this summer.
