Aston Villa could sell Tyrone Mings before the end of the transfer window, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Aston Villa's record Premier League goalscorer suggested West Ham could be a possible destination for Mings.

The 29-year-old was stripped of the club captaincy this summer and was left out of the side that lost 2-0 to Bournemouth on Saturday (6 August).

As quoted by BBC Sport on Monday (8 August), Steven Gerrard insisted Mings will only play when "he looks me in the eye and shows that he's ready to play".

"If the right bid came in, it might suit both the club and the player," Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

"Sometimes different managers come in and it doesn't work out.

"Tyrone Mings is a top defender and he's a Premier League defender and there might be a Premier League club that need a defender.

"You look at West Ham and they need a centre-half.

"It might be a case that Aston Villa let him go and it's the right move for the player because he wants to play regularly and it's the right move for Villa if they get a decent fee for him.

"If Tyrone Mings left I'm sure it would be no hard feelings and it would suit both the player and the club.

"But we don't know how it's going to pan out, he could be back in on Saturday, we don't know what Steven Gerrard's thinking.

"If I'm Tyrone Mings, I want to start, there's not a lot of game time between now and the World Cup. He's already lost his place in the England squad and he will be further down the pecking order if he's not starting every week."
