Tottenham are discussing the permanent signing of Gareth Bale as all transfer options are "on the table", Football Insider has been told.

Spurs are in talks with Real Madrid to re-sign Welsh superstar, 31, as they work on a marquee signing that would thrill their supporters.

A Tottenham source has told Football Insider that a loan move is more likely but a permanent move is a "firm option".

One possibility mooted by Tottenham is an initial loan with a view to a permanent transfer at the end of the season.

That would mean Real initially paying a considerable portion of Bale's reported £600,000-a-week wages.

Tottenham face competition from other Premier League clubs for the left-footed attacker with four Champions Leagues and two Spanish league titles to his name.

This site revealed early last month that a sensational return to Spurs for Bale was firmly on the cards as his former club prepared an offer.

Tottenham were in contact with Bale's camp last summer about a possible loan return to the capital.

But terms could not be agreed and a free transfer was eventually brokered to Chinese side Jiangsu Suning before Real pulled the plug at the eleventh hour.

Relations have soured even further between the Spanish giants and Bale over the subsequent 12 months and was a bit-part figure both before and, especially after, the lockdown last season.

He was left out of Real's 24-man squad for the Champions League defeat to Man City after Zinedine Zidane claimed "he preferred not to play".

Tottenham are interested in offering Bale the chance to reignite a career that has fallen flat in recent seasons.
