Luis Diaz's summer transfer saga may finally come to an end at Liverpool as Bayern Munich circle for the winger's signature.

Vincent Kompany's side have attempted to sign the Colombian star already, launching a £58million bid early this month [BBC Sport], but the offer was swiftly rejected by those at Anfield.

Despite the very strong links and Football Insider understanding that Diaz is "in negotiations" with other clubs, he has still been taken on the club's pre-season tour of Hong Kong by Arne Slot.

The Dutchman is clearly very happy to splash the cash on Merseyside, with Jeremie Frimpong, Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez, and Hugo Ekitike all signed, and business is unlikely to stop there.

Liverpool exits to ensue at Anfield

While Darwin Nunez's future remains unclear, deals for Jarell Quansah, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Caoimhin Kelleher have all been completed, with several other first-team stars linked with moves away.

Speaking to Liverpool News 247 (18 July), ESPN reporter Rodra revealed that Real Betis, Valencia and Rayo Vallecano are interested in Stefan Bajetic, with Harvey Elliott, Ben Doak, and Ibrahima Konate potentially expected to depart.

Diaz could be added to that list despite the Reds rejecting an initial bid from Bayern, and Slot has certainly been given a brand-new reason to accept whatever the second bid is that the German giants throw his way.

Football Insider revealed last month that Liverpool would consider a bid of £69m, especially with no movement over a new contract, and that money would help fund a deal for Newcastle United's Alexander Isak.

Alexander Isak wants to leave Newcastle United

After Football Insider revealed that Liverpool had sent a £130m bid for Isak, an extra £70m from Diaz's departure would certainly go a long way to fund a British transfer record.

The Reds have already spent £69m on Ekitike, with another £10m on add-ons [BBC Sport], pushing the club's spending over £250m for the summer, and the reigning Premier League champions are not stopping there.

The Sweden international has not travelled to Singapore with the rest of the Magpies squad, including the likes of Bruno Guimaraes, Tino Livramento, and Sandro Tonali, and that is likely to crush Eddie Howe's spirit and plans.

Everything appears to be falling into place for Liverpool to finally get their star striker for the 2025/26 campaign, and with so much money spent already, accepting a deal for Diaz seems like the sensible idea now if it means landing the big one in Isak.

Of course, supporters will be extremely emotional to see the former FC Porto star leave over the coming weeks, but with Bayern clearly keen on the player, the move would suit all parties this summer, especially now rival suitors Barcelona have sealed a loan move for Man United outcast Marcus Rashford.
