Bernardo Silva could be quitting Man City after 'mega-money' offer rejected - pundit
Bernardo Silva could quit Man City if they don't win the Champions League as his new contract talks continue to stall.
That is according to former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Silva's future.
On Saturday (26 November), sources told this site that City have offered the 28-year-old a mega-money new contract that he has failed to accept.
The Cityzens are keen to tie down the Portugal international after Pep Guardiola signed a two-year contract extension.
The midfielder was linked with Barcelona in the summer and subsequent reports suggest the Spanish giants could try again in January.
Silva is seen as an integral part of Guardiola’s team and part of his long-term vision for the club.
His current contract runs until 2025.
When asked if missing out on the Champions League could prompt Silva's exit, Hutton told Football Insider: "Of course it could.
"I think when you see what Pep is doing, they are building for the future. They players that they are bringing in every transfer window.
"Their aim is obviously for the Champions League, they want to win leagues. I do not see why you would want to move away from that.
"They are always developing that squad, year after year. It is not stale, it is not standing still. It is always different so I think that is the good thing about it.
"They are focussed on winning trophies so I do not see why you would want to leave that."
