Borna Barisic has agreed terms with Trabzonspor as he closes in on a Rangers exit this summer, sources have told Football Insider

The Gers haven’t offered the Croatian international a new contract and are unlikely to do so, with his current deal set to expire at the end of June this year.

The left-back is expected to leave the Glasgow side once the season comes to an end barring an unexpected twist taking place.

Borna Barisic won't be handed new Rangers contract

Barisic has been a constant in the Rangers starting lineup since making the move from his hometown club Osijek in 2018.

The defender has made 236 appearances for the Gers during that time, scoring 10 goals and laying on 54 assists.

But he’s seen his role in the side diminish since the arrival of Philippe Clement in October last year, with Ridvan Yilmaz emerging as the favoured option on the left-hand side of the defence.

While Barisic has seen his minutes increase again recently, his performances haven’t tempted the club into offering him a new deal beyond this season.

Clement has revealed he is planning a “big” rebuild at Ibrox ahead of the transfer window reopening in a matter of weeks.

The Gers are three points behind Celtic in the Scottish Premiership title race, with their Old Firm rivals needing just a point to be crowned champions.

John Lundstram, Kemar Roofe, Ryan Jack, Leon Balogun and John McLaughlin all join Barisic in being out of contract this summer as Clement looks to revamp his squad.

Football Insider revealed on 14 May the Light Blues are closing in on a deal for Levski Sofia centre-back Jose Cordoba as they aim to get some early transfer business concluded.
