Sofiane Boufal will undergo a Southampton medical on Sunday to clinch a club-record move, according to a reliable journalist.

Sky Sports' reporter Adam Levanthal revealed on his personal Twitter account on Saturday night that the attacking midfielder is set to clinch a transfer from Lille.

Sky Sports claimed on their website on Friday that Southampton have agreed a club-record £21million fee for Boufal.

This will top the £12.8million record fee they paid for Dani Osvaldo three years ago.

The signing of Boufal is a real coup for Southampton given that he has been a target this summer for Tottenham and Liverpool.

French football site France Football claimed earlier this month that Spurs had turned their attention to the 22-year-old after a change in ownership at Marseille delayed their transfer of Georges Kevin-N'Koudou.

It had been reported earlier in the window that Boufal was also attracting Liverpool with Klopp scouting the young prospect several times while Arsenal had also been previously monitoring the highly rated Lille winger.

Boufal enjoyed a successful year in France last season, scoring 12 goals and providing four assists in 35 encounters, helping his side finish in fifth place.

He suffered a knee injury in May which is likely to keep him out of action until September, but this isn't deterring Southampton's pursuit.

The Morroco international joined Lille for £3million from then-Ligue 2 club Angers in January 2015, signing a four-year deal.
