West Brom are closing in on signing Karlan Grant after a breakthrough in talks with Huddersfield Town, Football Insider understands.

The Premier League club are still working feverishly on providing Slaven Bilic with the centre-forward he wants to provide cutting edge to his attack.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Huddersfield have indicated they are willing to bow to West Brom demands for a loan-to-buy deal for Grant.

That would mean the 23-year-old joining on loan for the season with a view to a permanent deal next summer.

The compromise is likely to see the centre-forward head to the Hawthorns by the time the domestic window shuts on Friday of next week.

Trading is allowed only between Premier League and EFL clubs over the next eight days.

Grant has not played for Huddersfield since the start of the new season as he looks to secure a move.

Manager Carlos Corberan has openly admitted the striker is seeking the exit door and that talks have been taking place.

Grant has an impressive record for Huddersfield of 23 goals from 57 matches in all competitions.

That includes four goals from 13 games in the Premier League as well as a further 19 as the Terriers escaped relegation last season.
