Celtic are set to announce on Friday that manager Brendan Rodgers has signed a new contract, according to a report.

The Scottish Sun claim that Rodgers has agreed an improved deal with the newly-crowned champions following weeks of secret talks.

It is said that Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell is poised to announce a successful conclusion to negotiations at a press conference called for 2.30pm on Friday.

Rodgers signed a 12-month rolling contract with Celtic when he was appointed last summer that the Scottish Sun claim is worth a record £2.25million-a-year.

It is likely that the 44-year-old will be handed a pay rise by the club as a reward for the clinching the title in record time and taking the team to new heights.

The northern Irishman has lived up to his reputation as fine young manager by steering the club to a sixth consecutive Scottish Premiership crown on the back of a 31-game unbeaten run.

Celtic have already won the Betfred Cup while there’s also a Scottish Cup semi-final to come against Rangers in a fortnight as they chase a first domestic clean sweep for 16 years.

Rodgers also took Celtic into the Champions League group stages, where they secured a memorable draw against Pep Guardiola's Manchester City.
