Celtic are working on a deal to sign Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Patrick Pentz as they look to replace Joe Hart in the summer transfer window.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider's Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O'Rourke revealed that Pentz has just one year left on his current contract and has emerged as a strong option for the Hoops.

Described as "the modern goalkeeper", Pentz, 27, represents a different option to the more traditional Joe Hart, with Brendan Rodgers keen to recruit an option to suit his style of play.

O'Rourke explained that Celtic are looking across Europe and worldwide in their search for a new shot-stopper.

Pentz spent this season on loan at Brondby IF in Denmark where he has made 25 league appearances for the side who sit second in the league after 30 games.

He has yet to make an appearance for Leverkusen since signing for free in 2022, but Celtic have been impressed by his displays while out on loan.

The goalkeeper's ability with the ball at his feet has caught the eye of Rodgers who will look for his new arrival to help build forward from the back.

Replacing Hart is the primary objective for Rodgers' side this summer with the Englishman set to retire at the end of the season following the Scottish Cup final.
