Celtic are set to wrap up the permanent transfer of Efe Ambrose to Hibernian within the coming days, according to a report.

The Scottish Sun claim the newly-promoted Edinburgh side are confident the deal will go through imminently following Ambrose's impressive spell on loan.

It is said that Ambrose, 28, is willing to snub more lucrative contract offers in England and France to keep his family in Scotland, where they are settled following his five-year spell in Glasgow.

The centre-back revived his flagging career at Hibs after agreeing an emergency loan to the club from Celtic at the start of March.

Ambrose played the full 90 minutes of 10 of their last 11 league matches of the season as Neil Lennon's side stormed to the Scottish Championship title.

The defender, who won two of his four Premiership titles under Lennon at Parkhead and also lifted the 2013 Scottish Cup, is now ready to make permanent his ties with the club.

Ambrose made only two appearances for Celtic this season and was not been named in the matchday squad following their Champions League qualification campaign in July.

The 48-times Nigeria international was frozen out of the first team by manager Brendan Rodgers despite playing 169 matches since joining from FC Ashdod in 2012.
