Chelsea have offered Everton two stars in part exchange in a cash-plus-player bid for Anthony Gordon, sources have told Football Insider.

The Merseysiders have rejected bids of £40m and £45m from Chelsea as they ramp up their efforts to lure the 21-year-old.

Now Chelsea have offered a new solution of midfielder Billy Gilmour and striker Michy Batshuayi plus cash in exchange for Gordon.

Everton have previously registered their interest in signing both players this summer.

The latest twist demonstrates how far the Londoners are willing to go to get a deal for the wide forward over the line

Batshuayi, 28, and Gilmour, 21, spent last season on loan with Besiktas and Norwich City respectively.

Gordon, who is under contract until 2025, is the latest target for Chelsea in a summer so far characterised by a failure to get key forward additions over the line.

The Blues missed out on the likes of Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski, both of whom have joined Barcelona.

But the new ownership regime has been successful in bringing Marc Cucurella, Raheem Sterling, Kalidou Koulibaly, Carney Chukwuemeka and Gabriel Slonina to Stamford Bridge for a combined total of close to £170m.

Everton meanwhile have financial issues to consider after posting losses of over £370m in the last three years alone.

Gordon enjoyed a breakthrough season for the Toffees in 2021-22, scoring four and providing three assists in 40 appearances.

The youngster featured against his suitors on the opening day of 2022-23 as Thomas Tuchel's side beat Everton 1-0 at Goodison Park.
