Chelsea have made a sensational approach for Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, sources have told Football Insider.

It is understood Enzo Maresca's side have approached Newcastle to enquire about their talisman and hope to get a deal in place before the 30 June accounts deadline to meet PSR guidelines.

The Magpies need to raise funds before Sunday in order to meet the financial regulations, but are loathe to lose their star striker in the process which would devastate Eddie Howe.

Chelsea are believed to be ready to offer three players as part of an amazing exchange deal, with Conor Gallagher, Armando Broja and Trevoh Chalobah potentially makeweights in the transfer.

Chelsea launch incredible move for Isak

Todd Boehly and Chelsea have certainly been far from shy in their transfer dealings since the American's takeover at Stamford Bridge, and moving for Isak would continue that trend.

Chelsea's late rally towards the end of last season saw the team secure European football, which has been denied from Newcastle due to Manchester United winning the FA Cup last month.

Isak could be tempted by the offer of a return to the European stage, particularly if Chelsea can offer a pay rise on his salary at St. James' Park.

The 24-year-old moved to Tyneside in a landmark £60m deal from Real Sociedad in 2022, scoring 35 goals in 67 matches so far, including 21 in the Premier League alone last term.

Isak has 11 goals in 46 senior Sweden caps, and Newcastle will be desperate not to lose their main attacking outlet alongside stars such as Bruno Guimaraes and Anthony Gordon this summer.
