Chelsea respond as Filip Jorgensen pushes for exit with West Ham now in hot pursuit

West Ham have reportedly expressed their interest in a January move for Chelsea goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen.

Chelsea have considered selling Jorgensen in the winter transfer window, with the Dane struggling for minutes.

The 23-year-old has only appeared in seven games across all competitions this season, amid the strong form of Robert Sanchez.

The Spaniard made two key mistakes as Chelsea lost 3-2 to Arsenal in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday, however, which could allow Jorgensen a route back.

West Ham are considering the sale of goalkeeper Mads Hermansen, just six months after they paid £20million to sign him from Leicester City.

Sanchez has been in terrific form this season for Chelsea, but it was a night to forget for the Spaniard on Wednesday.

First, he lost his bearings and was caught out from an early corner, allowing Ben White to head Arsenal in front.

And in the second half, Sanchez spilt a driven pass across the box, allowing Viktor Gyokeres to poke home and double the visitors' advantage.

The Spaniard's spectacular save to deny Mikel Merino late on proved that he is likely still the man for Chelsea, right now, however.

According to BBC Sport, the Blues are not ready to let Jorgensen go yet. West Ham have expressed their interest for the Dane, who wants to leave in an attempt to push for a World Cup position.

Chelsea have said no at the moment, however, and may look to find an alternative before allowing him to leave.

How Liam Rosenior reacted to Robert Sanchez blunders

Chelsea had gone close to signing AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan in the summer transfer window, but lost out over a slight disagreement on the fee.

Sanchez made plenty of mistakes last season and constantly struggled to provide the ability on the ball needed by Enzo Maresca.

New manager Liam Rosenior demands a similar ability, but the first impressions from his goalkeeper on Wednesday were not when the ball was at his feet.

Sanchez's mistakes proved costly, but his extraordinary save has likely kept Chelsea's hopes of making the final alive.

Speaking after the game, Rosenior said: "I'm asking Rob [Sanchez] to do things that he hasn't done before.

"I said to him before the game, and I made this really clear, when my players make mistakes, I'm accountable. That's on me.

"He made a save in the second half that was absolutely world-class. That could have put us out of the tie. He will improve in terms of his understanding."
