Crystal Palace have contacted Liverpool about signing Rhian Brewster in January, Football Insider can reveal.

The Londoners are keen to strengthen their forward line in the upcoming transfer window and are already working on multiple targets across various clubs.

A Liverpool source has told Football Insider that the visitors to Anfield for this afternoon's Premier League clash have made an enquiry about the availability of Brewster on loan.

The manager believes the teenage striker, 19, needs more match experience after making just two appearances for the first team in his fledgling career.

Klopp is not expected to make a decision on where Brewster will play for the second half of the season until after Liverpool's League Cup quarter-final clash against Aston Villa in mid-December.

The England Under-21 international played the full 90 minutes in each of the early-round wins against Arsenal and MK Dons, and has been pencilled in to play against the Midlands giants.

That cup showdown will be 24 hours before Liverpool play in the Club World Cup in Qatar, when Klopp is expected to field his first team.

Brewster, who won the Golden Boot at the Under-17 World Cup in 2017, is rated by Klopp as a player capable of establishing himself in the first team in the coming years.

His progress was interrupted by a serious knee injury that robbed him of a year of his career and he is still working his way back to his full playing capacity.
