Liverpool are reportedly close to reaching an agreement with Thomas Lemar - and fans have taken to Twitter to deliver mixed verdicts.

French outlet Le10 Sport claim the Premier League giants are working on a deal to sign the France international during the summer transfer window.

It is said that Liverpool have taken key steps to agreeing the terms of a contract with Lemar, 22, following recent conversations.

Le 10 Sport report that the deal is not done yet but the English club are close to getting a "yes" from the player and will then be able to table a formal bid.

Lemar has scored three goals and supplied eights assists in 27 Monaco matches this season after failing to hit the heights of his stunning 2016-17 campaign, in which he struck 14 goals and supplied 17 assists for the team that was the talk of Europe.

His recent mediocre form has perhaps informed the comments of Liverpool fans on social media, with some claiming they would rather the team concentrate on securing other targets.

However, some have stated that Lemar would be a brilliant signing who would add to an already dazzling front line that has electrified the Premier League and Champions League this season.
