Caleb Ekuban has agreed personal terms with Trabzonspor as he closes in on a permanent transfer from Leeds United, Football Insider understands.

The striker joined the Turkish top-flight club last summer on a season-long loan costing £170,000, with the deal including an option to purchase the Italian-born striker full-time this summer for a further £860,000.

A club source has told Football Insider that Trabzonspor are eager to trigger the option clause, which runs only until 31 May, and Ekuban's camp have already settled the details of his salary and bonus payments.

United manager Marcelo Bielsa has given the green light for the Ghana international to permanently exit Elland Road after freezing him out of his squad in the first month of this campaign.

Ekuban scored just two goals in 21 Leeds matches last season after signing from Italian Serie B side Chievo in the summer of 2017 in a wave of new arrivals.

He has fared better at Trabzonspor, where he has been a regular starter and scored eight goals in his 30 appearances as well as supplied three assists.

Ekuban has been deployed in a variety of forward roles at the Turkish outfit, including on the right flank and as the attack spearhead.
