Joao Teixeira is in advanced talks to join Fiorentina in the summer, Football Insider sources understand.

The Portuguese attacking midfielder has been by targeted the Serie A club on the recommendation of their manager Paulo Sousa.

Teixeira has held talks with Liverpool to extend his current deal, which expires at the end of the season.

But the two parties have been unable to agree terms and a Liverpool source has told Football Insider that the club do not expect him to be at Anfield next season.

The 23-year-old is keen to play regular first-team football and has been made an offer by Fiorentina, who are fourth in Serie A and have hopes of qualifying for next season's Champions League.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp claimed in January that talks with the winger were "ongoing" and he was hopeful Teixeira would stay at Anfield.

That now seems unlikely, with the Portugese set to leave on a free transfer.
