Done deal: Celtic agree terms with Hazard

Irish goalkeeper Conor Hazard has signed a new four-year deal with Celtic, it was announced on Friday afternoon.

The Hoops revealed on their official website and media channels that the 19-year-old has put pen to paper on a contract that runs until 2021.

He was pictured signing the new agreement on Friday morning alongside the club's chief executive Peter Lawwell.

Hazard’s latest new deal is testament to his excellent progress since joining the Celtic academy three years ago from Cliftonville.

Having consistently impressed for the development Squad, he made his top-team bow earlier this summer in the pre-season friendly win over Linz.

Hazard is yet to make his competitive debut for Brendan Rodgers' side but has surged up the pecking order to become third-choice keeper behind Craig Gordon and Dorus de Vries.

Hazard’s long-term ambition is to become Celtic’s number one and he wants to achieve that during the span of his new contract.

“I have four years now to work as hard as I can to get it done,” said the keeper to the club's website.

“Craig and Dorus have helped me a lot along the way and I'm learning from them every day, along with Stevie Woods. It’s a great achievement but now I need to try and push on and do it.”

“The gaffer has shown he is bringing through young players and it’s a great opportunity for us all and it’s up to us to take it and prove we can do it.”

In other Celtic news, the club are in advanced talks to sign up an enforcer, with the deal to be done this month.
