Nicklas Bendtner's topsy-turvy career took a new twist on Monday night when he agreed a transfer to Rosenborg, it has been confirmed.

Nottingham Forest announced on their official website that the striker, 29, had left the club to join the Norwegian side for an undisclosed fee.

It brings to an end Bentdner's six-month spell at the City Ground in which he failed to hit the heights of a career in which he has scored 29 international goals for Denmark and 47 strikes in 171 appearances for Arsenal.

Bendtner signed a two-year contract when he joined Forest in September following spells at Wolfsburg, Juventus, Sunderland and Birmingham.

But he scored just two goals in 17 appearances, just seven of which were starts, during his time in Nottingham.

The Denmark international had fallen out of favour in recent weeks, with forwards Britt Assombalonga, Zach Clough and teenager Ben Brereton all starting ahead of him.

Bendtner has been able to complete a move outside of the English transfer windows because the window in Norway is open until 31 March, with their season starting in April.

"Everyone at Nottingham Forest would like to thank Nicklas for his efforts and wish him well for the future," said a statement on the club's website.


Gary Brazil is in interim charge of the club until the end of the season after Philippe Montanier was sacked in January.

Brazil made a strong initial impact in caretaker charge before Forest's results subsequently nosedived but they followed up a midweek draw against Wolves with last Saturday's against-the-odds 3-0 demolition of second-placed Brighton.

The result means are 18th in the Championship table and six points clear of the relegation zone.
