Wolves have confirmed that goalkeeper Harry Burgoyne has agreed terms to a new contract. The Championship leaders announced on their

and

on Wednesday that the paperwork has been finalised for Burgoyne, 21, to extend his stay at Molineux until the end of the 2019/20 season.

Burgoyne has been ever-present in Premier League 2 for the Under-23s this season but does not appear to be breaking into the first-team, despite playing several times last season. The 6ft 3in colossus made his debut against Fulham in 2016 and also played between the sticks in the momentous 2-1 win over Liverpool at Anfield in the FA Cup last season. The goalkeeper has been on the books at Wolves since the age of 11 and having progressed through the ranks he has had loan spells at Lowestoft Town, Corby Town, Telford United and Barnet.

Football Insider verdict

Burgoyne does not appear to be able to make an impact in the senior team any time soon however as the season nears an end Nuno Espirito Santo may give Under-23s players the chance to impress in the Championship once the title is wrapped up. Wolves are likely to spend big in the summer and could sign one or two new goalkeepers to get the squad up to Premier League standard. Burgoyne could have multiple hurdles thrown in his way if he wants to make an impact at senior level, so this contract may be just so Wolves can sell him for a fee in the future.
