Liverpool sensation Harvey Elliott is in line for a blockbuster new contract this summer, Football Insider understands.

The attacker signed his first professional contract last July shortly after turning 17.

That deal expires in 2023 and a Liverpool source has told Football Insider that the plan is for Elliott, who turns 18 in April, to be tied to a new long-term deal.

That would see the left-footed attacker land a big pay rise on the back of an outstanding campaign on loan at Blackburn Rovers.

Elliott has made a huge impact in the Championship, scoring four goals and a division-high eight assists, matched only by Reading's Michael Olise.

Football Insider revealed last week how Blackburn players and coaches have been blown away by the impact made by Elliott.

The Fulham academy product usually operates on the right side of attack but he was used at centre-forward in Rovers' 1-0 defeat to QPR on Saturday.

Elliott moved to Anfield in July 2019 and made nine senior appearances, mainly in the domestic cups, in his first campaign.

He has not only been a regular for Rovers but one of the outstanding players in this season's Championship.

Liverpool and manager Jurgen Klopp have high hopes for Elliott and he is expected to have a bigger first-team role next season.
