Rob Green is on course to sign a new Leeds contract in the coming months, according to a report.

The Yorkshire Evening Post claim the England international is likely to be tied to new terms in the months ahead owing to an appearance-related clause in his deal.

Green, 36, signed a one-year contract in the summer when he completed a free transfer from QPR and is said to be well on his way to earning a second year at Elland Road.

The former Norwich and West Ham goalkeeper has been first choice under Garry Monk since the opening weekend of the campaign after displacing previous No1 Marco Silvestri.

Green, who has won 12 England caps, has started all 12 of the Yorkshire club's league matches in 2016-17 and has been a solid figure in goal following a few early season blunders.

Monk's side are 13th in the table after a fine run of results came to an end when they lost 1-0 to Derby at the iPro Stadium on Saturday.

In other Leeds transfer news, a 25-year-old has signed for the club after agreeing terms.
