Steven Naismith is set to undergo a Norwich medical this week as he prepares to leave Everton in the early days of the January transfer window, Football Insider sources understand.

Norwich City agreed a fee of £8million with Everton for the striker, who has been a fringe player at Goodison Park this season.

This comes after Everton turned down an offer for the same price for the 29-year-old in the summer.

A source close to Naismith has told Football Insider that the medical is imminent and the expectation is the deal will be finalised early in the window.

With Romelu Lukaku topping the Premier League scoring charts with 15 and Arouna Kone back fit and restored as a first-team regular, Naismith has slipped down the pecking order at Goodison.

The Scotland international scored a memorable hat-trick in Everton's 3-1 over Chelsea in September but has started only four Premier League games all season.

He came off the bench in the second half of the team's 4-3 defeat by Stoke City on Monday.
