Sources: Everton complete James Tarkowski signing amid 'strained' relations behind the scenes
James Tarkowski has signed an Everton contract but an announcement over the deal has been delayed, Football Insider understands.
This site exclusively revealed on Wednesday morning of last week (8 June) that Tarkowski was due for an Everton medical that day after they had won the race to sign him.
An Everton source has told Football Insider that Tarkowski has completed the medical and signed a contract as well as all other formalities including pictures for the club's media outlets.
The only element of the deal missing is the official announcement.
That has been delayed because of the friction between the clubs, with the source explaining that relations behind the scenes are "strained".
It means Tarkowski may not be confirmed as an Everton player until his Burnley contract expires at the end of June.
This site revealed last month (23 May) that Everton had offered Tarkowski a deal worth £120,000-a-week as they stepped up plans to recruit a new centre-back.
Tarkowski has had extensive options after running down his contract at Turf Moor.
Burnley elected not to cash in on Tarkowski and blocked all approaches in January in a bid to beat the drop.
The two-time England international's reputation has survived the Clarets' relegation unscathed.
The capture of Tarkowski will mean one of Everton's four senior centre-backs is likely to depart this summer.
