Exclusive: Barry Douglas undergoing medical after Leeds agree 20/21 move
Barry Douglas is undergoing a Blackburn Rovers medical this afternoon after agreeing to join from Leeds United, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.
The Championship club have beaten second-tier rivals Watford to the capture of the Scotland left-back.
A Leeds source has told Football Insider that Douglas has headed to Blackburn to undergo medical tests and complete the formalities of the transfer.
He is set to join Tony Mowbray's side on a season-long loan.
Mowbray revealed yesterday that Douglas was a target but admitted he faced competition for the 31-year-old's signature.
The cash-rich Hornets had made the first move for Douglas after, as revealed by this site, an approach for him earlier this month.
But Blackburn have won the race to sign a player with an excellent record in the Championship, especially at former club Wolves. They first make contact yesterday over a deal.
Douglas is one of two Leeds players close to leaving on loan, with young midfielder Robbie Gotts putting the finishing touches to a move to Lincoln City.
Leeds had hoped to sell the more senior on a permanent deal and reduced their asking price to increase the possibility.
But Douglas is on relatively high wages and, in the current climate, neither Watford or Blackburn are prepared to commit to a significant transfer fee.
He has not made a single matchday squad for Leeds' four Premier League matches this season after slipped to fourth in their left-back pecking order behind Stuart Dallas, Ezgjan Alioski and Leif Davis.
